Goth murder, Whitby

S N Pearse (Steve)

Born in Fulford, York, the eldest of four children and one of two who were later to become Police Officers in their native North Yorkshire, Steve  now brings his experience and expertise of a quarter of a century in policing to the fore with the release of his debut novel 'Finding Jane'. Set around the infamous 2013 landslip beneath Whitby Abbey, Steve is not the first author to find inspiration from this atmospheric setting though his work is a far removed genre to that of Bram Stoker.

An education at Selby Grammar School was to lead to a career in shipbuilding before he left in 1986 to start in a profession he had initially turned down some years earlier but never forgot. An ambition to work his way through the ranks took very much a back seat when his son, Jazz, was born with Down's Syndrome a few months later and required him to provide additional care. His daughter Jofi was born four years later and has been a great source of information to his writing of the book with her links to the Goth scene and diverse musical tastes.

Following a varied career Steve decided to chase his dream and write a novel that brings together his love of his home county, with its diverse community, with his wealth of experience of policing in the rural landscape of The North Yorkshire Moors.

Using the colourful Goth scene of Whitby as a backdrop for his principal character and the majestic coastline as a setting, Steve has created and developed new characters that he hopes will mature into a regular cast of investigators.

Steve now resides near Malton in North Yorkshire with his wife Gilly and is busy pulling together his research for his next work.

The wait is over. Finding Jane is over here! Thrilling, engaging and entertaining, A simply great read.
